Modernized and expanded for urban travel.
The proposed APM system would encompass 5.25 miles of elevated transit guideway, including that of the existing Skyway system, and 13 stations. The system would utilize a fleet of Automated People Mover trains, similar to those used in Chicago, Miami, and throughout Asia to provide 3 lines of service as part of the Skyway network. The A-train would operate between the Stadium and LaVilla Stations, the B-train would operate between the Stadium and Brooklyn Stations, and the C-train would operate between the Rosa Parks and River Oaks Stations.
Replacing the technically impractical Ultimate Urban Circulator plan, this would invest in modernization of the Skyway with proven APM technology to provide a basis for future expansion and support more service.
The long-awaited expansion of the Skyway to Brooklyn would support the growing district and allow its residents to easily access other areas of Downtown.
This 1.3 mile line would use modernized APM technology to expand the Skyway along Bay Street to Ford on Bay, Shipyards West Park, and the new entertainment district at a renovated EverBank Stadium.
This 1.2 mile line would use modernized APM technology to expand the Skyway along the FEC Railway into San Marco.
