Regional Rail enhances the Commuter Rail concept of mainline passenger service by focusing on efficient design & operation to provide high-frequency, all-day travel options. Regional services would utilize powerful, efficient trainsets with level boarding to enable faster trips. As part of the GoJAX Vision, the potential for Brightline's expansion to North Florida would provide private support to make major regional connections.
Currently the Prime Osborn III Convention Center, the former Jacksonville Terminal would be restored as a modern hub for Amtrak, Brightline, and regional rail services.
For the first time, Jacksonville would take charge in attracting intercity passenger rail to North Florida. Through the federal Corridor ID program, the city would partner with FDOT to develop plans to guide state & federal support for high-speed rail from Jacksonville to St. Augustine, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa, including a suburban stop at Avenues Walk. This plan would replace the current Southeast Corridor commuter rail plan, but future service expansion could add additional infill stops and services.

An early opportunity to establish local expertise in rail construction, the Southwest Corridor would initiate regional rail development along the CSX A-Line, first with 4.9 miles from Downtown to Ortega Park, then 4.4 miles to Naval Air Station Jacksonville. Partnerships with Clay County could further expand rail to Orange Park, Fleming Island, & Green Cove Springs.
The North Corridor would utilize a reconfigured S-Line trail to develop regional rail from Downtown to Springfield, Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens, and provided support by PFCs, Jacksonville International Airport. Partnerships with Nassau County could further expand rail to Yulee & Wildlight.
The West Corridor would utilize the CSX Jacksonville Terminal Subdivision to develop a limited-stop, 18.3 mile rail service from Downtown to Baldwin with stops at Edgewood Ave and Chaffee Rd. Service along this corridor would be dependent on funding. Future Amtrak Long Distance service on this corrridor may help support additional infill service.
